Re-discover yourself amidst hills!

Posted on 10th July 20166th December 2016

Little did I know how it feels when clouds march into your room? And that is exactly what I experienced when I visited Mussoorie this year.

Hills in Monsoons
Hills in Monsoons

To escape the scorching heat of Delhi, I headed towards Mussoorie this summer and what I experienced was breathtaking. Though the hill station has now become quite commercialized, yet it offers a handful of resorts where you can revitalize your senses and rejuvenate quite literally.

View from my Hotel Balcony

The hill town located at 6000 ft. above sea level lies in the Dehradun valley of Uttrakhand state in Northern India. It is approximately 290 km from national capital of India – New Delhi and quite easy to reach by bus or private cars. It took me 8 hours to reach Mussoorie from Delhi and finally when I reached my hotel, the view from my room was just awe-inspiring.

Kempty Falls

Famous for its scenic views and waterfalls all around the hills, this queen of hills provide a perfect opportunity for its visitors to play with clouds in monsoons, and snow in winters. The hills look magnificent in every weather and people flock to his place all year round. For me, a walk on the Mall Road is now a thing of the past, and I rather enjoy sipping green tea while admiring the view from my balcony.

Clouds all Over

The backdrop of clouds all around made my holiday picture perfect. I went there alone this time but if you have your loved ones along on this holiday, it will be the cherry on the cake. I recommend you go there for some soul searching, calmness, and relaxation and just soak in the nature for as long as possible. The panoramic view of the Himalayan Range will leave you astound.

Hazy Mornings!

Apart from the tranquility, you can also experience some sight-seeing around the hills. The most sought after is Kempty Falls which is about 15 km down on the other side of hills. The falls come down to a pool where you can click pictures or relax. There is no dearth of food or drinks of all kinds and if you can survive on Maggie Noodles, you have triumphed the hills and can never go hungry to bed.

Other attractions include Mussoorie Lake on your way back.  If you have some time in hand, a visit to Dhanaulti is a must. The snaking roads cutting the mountains will itself bring a lot of adventure in your life. If you want experience an adrenaline thrill, go to Himalayan Adventure Camp and opt for paragliding or trekking.

Robber's Cave
Robber’s Cave

I was there for the sheer experience of peace and tranquility and enjoyed my serene stay. On my way back I did visit Robber’s Cave in Dehradun. The cave is also known as Gucchu Pani in local language. Make sure you avoid visiting the cave in monsoons as it remains closed.

I returned back to Delhi after spending a soulful weekend on my own and it has refreshed me for weeks to come. Whether you are traveling with family, friends, or just by yourself, this hill town is perfect for all kinds of travelers. Apart from some local shopping of handmade carpets and wall hangings, I brought back with me a new outlook towards life and have pledged to holiday on my own every year.

Thanks for revealing your ideas. The one thing is that learners have an option between federal government student loan along with a private student loan where it’s easier to decide on student loan debt consolidation than with the federal student loan.
